Michigan vs Michigan State

The Michigan Wolverines and Michigan State Spartans will add another chapter to their storied history at 3:30 p.m. ET on Sunday when the arch-rivals meet in the 2019 Big Ten Tournament championship game. Only once before have the teams met in the conference title game, when the Spartans beat the Wolverines, 69-55, in 2014.

And given that the teams have never played each other in NCAA Tournament, no matchup in series history arguably has had more riding on it than this one. Michigan State (27-6) swept both games against Michigan this season, including a 75-63 decision eight days ago to claim a share of the Big Ten regular-season title.

After opening as a 1-point underdog, Michigan is now favored by 1 in the latest Michigan vs. Michigan State odds, while the over-under for total points scored is 131. Before making any Michigan State vs. Michigan picks of your own, be sure to see the top 2019 Big Ten Tournament predictions from the SportsLine Projection Model.

This model, which simulates every game 10,000 times, has raked in the winnings for those following its picks. During the past two years, the SportsLine Projection Model has returned more than $4,000 to $100 players on its top-rated college basketball picks. It also entered Conference Championship Week on a strong 11-5 run on all top-rated college basketball picks. Anyone who has followed it is way up.

Now the model has honed in on Michigan vs. Michigan State. We can tell you it is leaning over, and it has an extremely strong against-the-spread pick that cashes in more than 60 percent of simulations. That one is available only at SportsLine.

The model has considered that the Wolverines have seemed to regain their offensive touch after their loss to the Spartans eight days ago. In the team’s tournament victories against Iowa and Minnesota, Michigan found the open man for easy shots. The Wolverines shot a combined 48.4 percent in those games and assisted on 45 of 60 buckets.

But just because the Maize and Blue have been hot in Chicago doesn’t guarantee that the Wolverines will cover the Michigan vs. Michigan State spread.

Michigan State, in typical Tom Izzo fashion, is one of the top defensive and rebounding teams in the country. The Spartans rank third in the nation in field-goal defense (37.8 percent) and sixth in rebounding margin.

In the first matchup between the teams on Feb. 24, Michigan State smothered the Wolverines’ normally potent offensive attack and limited them to 39.7 percent shooting. Michigan shot the ball slightly better (40.3 percent) in the second matchup, but the Spartans dominated the boards, out-rebounding the Wolverines, 46-20.

So who wins Michigan State vs. Michigan? And which side of the spread cashes in more than 60 percent of simulations? Visit SportsLine now to see which side of the Michigan State vs. Michigan spread to jump on, all from the advanced model that’s up more than $4,000 on top-rated college basketball picks the past two seasons.

Cincinnati vs Houston

The two best teams all season long in the American Athletic Conference — the Houston Cougars and Cincinnati Bearcats — will fittingly meet in the AAC Tournament championship game on Sunday.

CLICK HERE TO WATCH LIVE NOW

It’s a rematch of last year’s title tilt, which Cincinnati won, 56-55. Houston (31-2) owns the nation’s best winning percentage and has been a force from the opening game of the season. On Saturday, the Cougars edged Memphis, 61-58, in the semifinals. Meanwhile, No. 24 Cincinnati (27-6) is led by AAC Player of the Year Jarron Cumberland, who averages a team-high 18.6 points.

Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. ET on Sunday at the FedEx Forum in Memphis. The Cougars are favored by 4.5 points in the latest Houston vs. Cincinnati odds, while the over-under for total points scored is 128.5.

Before making any Houston vs. Cincinnati picks of your own, be sure to see the 2019 AAC Tournament predictions from the SportsLine Projection Model.

Now the model has locked in on Houston vs. Cincinnati. We can tell you it is leaning over, and it has an against-the-spread pick that cashes in well over 50 percent of simulations. That one is available only at SportsLine.

The model has factored in that Houston is one of the top defensive teams in the country. The Cougars rank in the top 10 nationally in field-goal percentage defense (37.0, second nationally), 3-point field goal percentage defense (27.7, third), scoring defense (61.1 points, eighth) and rebound margin (7.9, eighth), just to name a few.

Houston won both regular-season meetings against the Bearcats this season, including an 85-69 victory in Cincinnati exactly a week ago to clinch the AAC regular-season title outright. In that game, Cougars senior guard Corey Davis Jr., a first team all-AAC member, scored a career-high 31 points.

But just because the Cougars won both earlier meetings doesn’t mean they’ll cover the Houston vs. Cincinnati spread in the 2019 AAC title game.

The Bearcats had chances to win both of the earlier matchups. In the first game, Cincinnati led 58-57 with 6:11 remaining, but didn’t score for the rest of the game, before losing 65-58. In the most recent matchup, the Bearcats led 47-41 with 13:11 to play in the second half before going cold again and losing by 16.

Cincinnati keeps putting itself in position to beat Houston due in large part to the play of Cumberland, who’s averaging 23.5 against the Cougars this season. The junior guard has improved across-the-board this season. He has honed in his 3-point shooting (40.3 percent) and free-throw shooting (77.9), while his rebounds (4.4), assists (3.7) and steals (1.2) all are up from a year ago.

So who wins Cincinnati vs. Houston? And which side of the spread can you bank on in well over 50 percent of simulations? Tigers vs Volunteers

After surviving one of the most memorable games in SEC Tournament history, the Tennessee Volunteers will now face off against the Auburn Tigers for the championship on Sunday.  LIVE

Auburn got the best of the Vols in the first matchup, an 84-80 victory that ended Tennessee’s hopes for another share of the regular season title.

Both teams won hard-fought, emotional games yesterday. It will be interesting to see how they respond with an early tip.

Final Record and Standings
25-9 (11-7)
5th SEC
Won last three
Impact Players
G Bryce Brown: 15.7 PPG, 40.0 FG%, 66.6 FT%, 39.0 3PT%, 0.7 REB, 2.0 AST, 0.7 TO, 1.0 STL, 34.7 MIN
At this point, we all know what Brown can do. He is a key cog in Bruce Pearl’s machine and is deadly from three.

He’s 13 of 33 from beyond the arc during the tournament, which is right on pace with his regular season stats. Limiting Brown’s range from three has to be one of Tennessee’s priorities in this matchup.

G Jared Harper: 17.3 PPG, 46.7 FG%, 78.9 FT%, 45.0 3PT%, 3.0 REB, 4.3 AST, 2.0 TO, 2.0 STL, 32.0 MIN
After a rough start to the tournament, Harper has certainly found his groove. He scored 27 points against the South Carolina Gamecocks and put up a 20-burger against the Florida Gators.

, not just a top 25 team

Mandatory Credit: Jim Brown-USA TODAY Sports
Bruce Pearl and the Auburn Tigers have not met many of their expectations this season. They didn’t win the SEC regular-season championship. They aren’t likely to get a top-four seed in the NCAA Tournament. They didn’t get a double-bye into the quarterfinals of the SEC Tournament, an event which has historically been a house of horrors for Auburn basketball.

Yet, even in a season when Auburn went through profound struggles and didn’t live up to every hope or aspiration, the Tigers have still achieved a lot of milestones. One more milestone was notched on Saturday in Nashville, where the Tigers made the SEC Tournament final for the first time since 1999 with a 65-62 win over the Florida Gators.

That 1999 Auburn team, coached by Cliff Ellis, was a No. 1 seed. Auburn had hoped to forge a regular season on par with its predecessor 20 years ago, but the Tigers were at least able to match that team’s SEC Tournament performance.

Head coach Bruce Pearl is aware of the story he is trying to write at Auburn.

“There’s a difference between having a top-25 team and having a top-25 program,” Pearl said. “The more we win, the more we have both.”

Auburn swept Alabama and Georgia in basketball this season, a very rare event. The Tigers will make NCAA Tournament appearances in consecutive seasons. They will be a higher seed in the round of 64 and will have a great chance to win NCAA Tournament games in consecutive seasons.

Auburn’s last — and only — SEC Tournament championship was in 1985. The Tigers will have a chance to win title No. 2 on Sunday against the Tennessee Volunteers, who defeated the Kentucky Wildcats.

Auburn and Tennessee shared the 2018 SEC regular-season title. Now they will meet to decide the 2019 SEC Tournament champion.

The road to this championship game for Auburn was hardly traditional or smooth, but Bruce Pearl and his players got there in the end. A win will certainly enable the Tigers to come closer to the top-25 status their head coach wants them to attain.

Auburn vsTennessee

Tennessee hasn’t won an SEC Tournament title since 1979, while Auburn is looking for its first since 1985. One of those droughts is guaranteed to end at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday when the No. 3 seed Vols and No. 5 seed Tigers meet up in the 2019 SEC Tournament Championship Game in Nashville. The Vols, fresh off a dramatic win over Kentucky in the semifinals, are six-point favorites in the latest Tennessee vs. Auburn odds, up from an open of five. The over-under for total points scored is 145.5, down sharply from an open of 149.5. Before locking in any Tennessee vs. Auburn picks of your own, see the 2019 SEC Tournament predictions from SportsLine guru Michael Rusk.  LIVE

Rusk built his name by exploiting flaws in public betting. With his economics and statistics background, Rusk uses multiple algorithms pooling with recency bias to produce profitable picks. That’s exactly what “The Prodigy” has been doing recently with his strong 28-16 run on his college basketball picks. Anyone who has followed him is way up.

Now Rusk has zeroed in on Tennessee vs. Auburn and locked in a strong against the spread pick. You can only see it at SportsLine.

Rusk has taken Tennessee’s balance into account. The Vols are anchored by SEC Player of the Year Grant Williams, who averages 19.2 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. As good as he is, he’s arguably not always the best player on the floor for Tennessee. That might be senior Admiral Schofield, a rising NBA prospect who has put up 41 total points thus far in the SEC Tournament.

Point guard Jordan Bone has added 32 points and 14 rebounds through two games in Nashville. And guard Lamonte Turner came up huge late in the Vols’ 82-78 win over Kentucky on Saturday, draining a 3-pointer in the closing minute that gave Tennessee the lead for good. Plus, with the game in Nashville, Rick Barnes’ squad will be playing in front of a mostly partial Tennessee crowd at Bridgestone Arena.

But just because the Vols had the better season overall doesn’t mean they’ll be able to cover the Tennessee vs. Auburn spread.

Auburn, coached by former Tennessee head coach Bruce Pearl, knocked off the Vols in the regular-season finale, 84-80. That game put the Tigers in position to make the 2019 NCAA Tournament, and their strong run in Nashville that has included wins over Missouri, South Carolina and Florida has done nothing but help their seeding.

Auburn enters Sunday on a seven-game winning streak and has won nine of its last 10. With an offense that averages about 80 points per game, the Tigers have shown they can compete with just about anybody. They nailed almost 40 percent of their 3-pointers in the recent win over Tennessee.

We can tell you Rusk is leaning to the under, but his much stronger play is on the spread. He has identified a critical X-factor that causes one side of the spread to hit hard. He’s only sharing what it is, and who to back, at SportsLine.

Who wins Auburn vs. Tennessee? And which critical X-factor makes one side of the spread a must-back? Visit SportsLine to see which side of the Auburn vs. Tennessee spread you should be all over, all from the expert crushing his recent college basketball picks, and find out. Bryce Brown scored all 11 of his points in the first half before Jared Harper picked up the scoring slack in the final 20 minutes when he netted 17 of his 20. Harper also hit a back-breaking 3-pointer in the final minute to help keep Florida at arm’s length as Auburn survived the Gators shooting 60.5 percent by forcing 19 turnovers and committing only four.

“There’s a difference between having a Top 25 team and having a Top 25 program,” Volunteers coach Bruce Pearl told The Associated Press. “The more we win, the more we have both.”

Auburn again showed its proficiency from long range, hitting 13 of 28 from 3-point range. The Tigers have hit at least 11 treys in six victories during their current winning streak while shooting at a 37.8 percent clip. Pearl’s team has shown a good shooting eye in Nashville, connecting on 38 of 97 (39.2 percent) of its long-range shots in three SEC tournament victories.

Auburn closed the regular season with an 84-80 home win over Tennessee on March 9 when Harper and Brown scored 16 points apiece. It was forward Chumu Okeke who provided the offensive spark, though, finishing with 22 points — one off his career high.

The Tigers have not won an SEC tournament since 1985 when Chuck Person — fired as an assistant in the offseason as part of the FBI wiretaps scandal probing bribes in college basketball

Betis vs Barcelona

Bilbao 2-0 Atletico Madrid
Real Madrid 2-0 Celta Vigo

There have been times this season where reports have suggested that Gennaro Gattuso was close to being sacked, but AC Milan will be relieved that they opted to show faith in the club legend.

Milan have put together a run of 10 matches without defeat in Serie A, and the 23 points recorded during that period have been enough to move the club into pole position for a place in next season’s Champions League.

Qualification for the competition is considered high priority due to their ongoing issues with FFP, and club officials will be desperate for success against their neighbours on Sunday evening.

Napoli still remain within their reach in second place, but Gattuso’s focus will be on continuing a season-defining run of form which has transformed the ambitions of a side which at one point appeared to be struggling to qualify for the Europa League.

Their early elimination from this season’s competition has proven to be a blessing in disguise, and the January arrival of Krzysztof Piatek has provided Gattuso’s side with an extra cutting edge in attack.

The Pole has already matched the six goals scored by Gonzalo Higuain during the first half of the campaign, and the 23-year-old will expect to double that total by the middle of May.

Gattuso will be slightly concerned that his team have not been at their best since the start of March, with narrow wins being recorded against 10-man Sassuolo and at lowly Chievo.

However, the manner of the victories are further proof that this is a group of players who are prepared to fight for their manager at a time when many of their rivals are underperforming in Serie A.

There have been reports that Inter Milan are prepared to part ways with Luciano Spalletti during the summer, and the club’s recent form would have done nothing to change any minds in the San Siro boardroom.

Just 11 points have been recorded from eight matches in Serie A, while Inter were dumped out of the Europa League by Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday night.

The run of results have coincided with issues with star man Mauro Icardi behind the scenes, but Inter should be faring much better on both the domestic and European scenes given the quality still present in their squad.

The Europa League was regarded as an opportunity to try to qualify for next season’s Champions League, and the failure against Frankfurt has only increased the stakes ahead of this weekend’s encounter.

Spalletti is aware that a defeat would be considered to be a disaster given the respective league positions of the two sides, but a draw would not necessarily be viewed in a positive light given the teams which Inter must face before the end of the campaign.

Inter must also be wary of the chasing pack with Roma just three points adrift in fifth spot, but Torino and Atalanta BC are also well placed to take advantage if Spalletti’s side cannot put together a run of victories.

Spalletti’s biggest challenge could be finding a forward who is able to deliver goals on a regular basis, with the two strikes from each of Lautaro Martinez and Matteo Politano representing the highest total of any player in the league since the start of 2019.

There also needs to be an improvement from the playmakers, with none of Spalletti’s squad contributing more than three assists in Serie A all season.

Hakan Calhanoglu may return to the starting lineup, with winger Samu Castillejo only being named among the replacements.

Marcelo Brozovic has been dealing with a muscle problem, but the Croatian may be recalled to the first XI.

Matias Vecino will also return after serving a one-match suspension, but Radja Nainggolan remains on the sidelines through injury.

AC Milan possible starting lineup:

Head To Head
Inter have not suffered defeat against their arch rivals in six contests, although four of those matches have ended in draws.

AC Milan last emerged victorious when they won 3-0 in January 2016, but that is the only time in 14 competitive meetings where either side has prevailed by more than one goal.

We say: AC Milan 1-1 Inter Milan
AC Milan are the form team heading into this contest, but we feel that being underdogs will suit Inter. Spalletti needs a performance from his side, and we are backing Sunday’s designated away side to come away with a share of the spoils.

Recent form
New York City FC is still looking for its first win of the season, after drawing 2-2 away to Orlando City on the opening weekend when they squandered a 2-0 lead at halftime.

Last week, in their first game regular season game in front of their fans, the Bronx Blues were left frustrated after they were held to a stalemate draw by D.C. United.

New York City FC had 21 shots to D.C.’s seven and enjoyed 66 percent of possession, but couldn’t make its superiority count.

Its opponents, meanwhile, have enjoyed a completely different start to the season. Los Angeles scored an injury-time winner on the opening weekend to beat 10-man Sporting Kansas City 2-1 and then thrashed Portland 4-1 last week.

The Timbers also had a men sent off, but by the time Diego Chara received his marching orders the Black and Gold were already home and dry.

Norwegian striker Adama Diomande has been in sparkling form so far this season, netting in both games.

The first and so far only meeting between the two sides finished 2-2 in Los Angeles last season.Carlos Vela hand a hand in his side’s first three goals before scoring the fourth himself as LAFC cruised to a 4-1 victory over the Portland Timbers on Sunday evening at Banc of California Stadium.

Mark-Anthony Kaye, Christian Ramirez and Adama Diomande also scored for LAFC, who have opened their season with home victories over both clubs that reached last year’s Western Conference Championship.

Defender Steven Beitashour exited with an apparent injury after 30 minutes for the hosts, and Kaye may also have picked up a knock that forced his 70th-minute departure.

Jeremy Ebobisse contributed his first goal of the season for Portland, who are now two games into a league-record 12 matches on the road to begin the 2019 campaign before returning to an expanded and renovated Providence Park.

Timbers midfielder Diego Chara picked up his second caution late in the match, and was sent off for the first time since May 20 of 2017. It was his first-ever ejection via a second yellow card in 234 MLS appearances.

Three Things
THE BIG PICTURE: Despite their impressive results to open the season, its worth remembering the kind of glittering victories LAFC also posted at times last season. En route to finishing third in the Western Conference table last season, LAFC scored three goals or more in eight of their 16 victories, and four more in seven of those wins. As for Portland, they also earned only two points in a five-match start on the road in 2018, but then assembled a 15-match unbeaten run that began with their home opener.
MOMENT OF THE MATCH: After fueling LAFC’s first three goals, Vela saved the best for last with this expert finish for his first goal of 2019, after posting 14 in his club’s expansion 2018 season. Not to be overshadowed, Diomande deserves credit for a quality assist during the buildup.
MAN OF THE MATCH: Vela was outstanding almost from the opening kick, and offered the kind of multi-faceted production that has become more common in his game of late. In the past 10 league matches dating back to last season, has contributed multiple goals-plus assists four times.
